Second CAREC Railway Working Group Meeting
CAREC railway experts met to review the draft CAREC Railway Strategy 2030 and design an action plan to unlock the potential of railways in the region.
They also shared country railway plans and discussed ways to link these into a regional strategy, addressing infrastructure needs, commercial capabilities, and regulatory improvement.
Asian Development Bank and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacificco-hosted the meeting.
The Railway Working Group was formed after the 14th CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting in April 2015 in order to guide the development of a CAREC railway strategy, which will contain immediate and midterm actions to steer the development of railways in the CAREC region.
