Capacity Building for Regional Cooperation under the CAREC Program

The Fourth CAREC Ministerial Conference in November 2005 emphasized that capacity building should focus on strengthening the CAREC Program's national focal points, conducting training workshops and study tours on international best practices for regional cooperation, and developing information exchange and research networks.

East–West Highway Improvement Project

The project will help accelerate socioeconomic development in west Azerbaijan (Agstafa, Ganja, Goranboy, Khanlar, Qazakh, and Yevlakh) and strengthen regional cooperation by improving transport efficiency in the East-West Highway and selected local roads.

Building the Capacity of the Ministry of Commerce for Trade and Transit Facilitation

The technical assistance was expected to enhance the capacity of the Ministry of Commerce in trade and transit facilitation, with emphasis on negotiating and implementing actual transit agreements.

Greater Silk Road Initiative 2006

The goal of this umbrella regional technical assistance (RETA) is to promote regional economic cooperation in Central Asia. The RETA includes support for high-level policy and sector-related meetings among CAREC participating countries and their development partners.

Dushanbe–Kyrgyz Border Road Rehabilitation Project, Phase II

The project will help increase trade in Central Asia and economic growth in the Rasht Valley and Dushanbe. It will improve and create sustainable regional and national road networks.

Establishment of the CAREC Members Electricity Regulators Forum

Prefeasibility Study of the Western Regional Road Corridor Development

A prefeasibility study is prepared to tackle transport issues and help achieve the sector performance indicators in the Asian Development Bank's country strategy and program for Mongolia.

Qaisar-Bala Murghab Road Project

The project will assist the government to promote economic and social development and reduce poverty by rehabilitating the primary road network damaged during three decades of conflict and neglect.

Baku to Samur

The proposed project will upgrade and rehabilitate a 60 km section of road, from Sumgait to Zarat, which is located on the main north–south route from Baku to Samur, which is located at the Russian border.
