CAREC: Power Sector Regional Master Plan

The technical assistance (TA) intends to identify power sector deficiencies on the regional level and resolve these through focusing on promotion of inter- and intra–regional electricity trade, increasing energy security and energy efficiency, and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs), by optimizing integrated transmission and generation expansion.

Energy Efficiency Facility for Industrial Enterprises

The objective of the project is to improve energy efficiency in Industrial Enterprises (IEs) by designing and establishing a financing mechanism for energy saving investments.

Management and Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyl in the Kyrgyz Republic

The project will provide the Kyrgyz Republic with the tools to achieve effective compliance with respect to its obligations to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and the objective of substantively minimizing the environmental and health risks, both local and global.

Energy Emergency Recovery Assistance Project, Additional Financing

The objective of the Additional Financing for the Energy Emergency Recovery Assistance Project for Tajikistan is to urgently increase the volume and reliability of the national energy supply, especially in the winter season, by supporting the implementation of the Energy Emergency Management Action Plan.

Talimarjan Power Project (formerly CASAREM–Talimarjan Energy Development Project)

Located 440 kilometers southwest of Tashkent, the new facility will increase energy efficiency and save energy through clean power generation. The project will also help increase regional connectivity, and improve power sector management and customer service.

Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management Multicountry Capacity Building Project (Turkmenistan)

The Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management (CACILM) is a partnership between Central Asian countries and the international donor community, focused on combating land degradation and improving living standards in the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Climate Risk Management

The project is undertaking risk assessments in 17 countries to better understand both near-term climate variability and long-term climate change. These assessments will help define how changing climate patterns are likely to impact on development and other key socio-economic sectors, such as agriculture and healthcare.

Energy Sector Development Investment Program, Tranche 2

The project will expand transmission coverage from Chimtala to South-West Kabul, develop the Kabul Distribution Network in Darchi-e-Bashi, and improve system planning and project management at Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS).

Energy Emergency Assistance Project, Additional Financing

The additional financing will increase the volume and reliability of Kyrgyz Republic's energy supply, especially thermal power in the winter season, thereby supporting implementation of the Energy Emergency Mitigation Action Plan.

Regional Power Rehabilitation

Individual consultants will be recruited to prepare the Regional Power Rehabilitation Project in Tajikistan for Asian Development Bank financing.

Transmission and Distribution Metering Project

The technical assistance will prepare the Transmission and Distribution Metering Project which will install accurate, tamper-proof wholesale meters, and auxiliary substation equipment at key interfaces between the generation company and licensees, transmission company, distribution companies and licensees, import/export nodes, and large consumers.

CASAREM-Talimarjan Power Generation and Transmission Project

The original aim of the technical assistance (TA) was to prepare the Talimarjan Power Project for Asian Development Bank financing. The TA scope was expanded to include assistance to the EA in procuring the main power plant contract. The TA scope was expanded to include assistance to the executing agency in procuring the main power plant contract.

Kazakhstan Moinak Electricity Transmission Project

The project will increase and improve the electricity supply to business enterprises and households in southern Kazakhstan in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner.

Kabul Distribution Network Rehabilitation

The technical assistance will prepare the Kabul Distribution Network Rehabilitation Project.

Power Distribution Development Investment Program

The technical assistance aims to set out a financing framework agreement and an investment program that is economically, financially, and technically feasible, and socially and environmentally acceptable.

Supplementary Financing for Regional Power Energy Network

The project will provide supplementary for the Regional Power Transmission Interconnection Project in Tajikistan.

Building Energy Efficiency Project

The project will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the transformation of the Mongolian buildings market towards more energy-efficient building technologies and services, sustainable private house insulation and energy efficiency financing mechanisms.

Energy-Efficient Design and Construction of Residential Buildings

The goal of this project is to decrease greenhouse gas emissions from new residential buildings by transforming practices and markets in the building sector of Kazakhstan towards more energy-efficient design and construction.

Energy Sector Development Investment Program, Tranche 1

The project will rehabilitate gas fields in Sheberghan, build a 220-kilovolt transmission line from Kunduz to Taloqan, and develop distribution systems in Kunduz and Baghlan.
