Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management Multicountry Capacity Building Project (Turkmenistan)
Summary
The Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management (CACILM) is a partnership between Central Asian countries and the international donor community, focused on combating land degradation and improving living standards in the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The project objective is to increase capacity at the national and cross-country levels to develop and implement an integrated approach and strategies to combat land degradation within the operational National Programming Framework.
Expected Outcome
In Turkmenistan, by the end of 2009, a comprehensive approach to environmentally sustainable principles and practices is integrated into policies at all levels and into community development, and is linked to improved social well-being. Farmers and farm staff in remote and environmentally degraded national priority areas are able to practice sustainable land use and integrated watershed management
Expected Outputs
In targeted areas, there is improved local capacity to practice sustainable land use and water management.
