Management and Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyl in the Kyrgyz Republic

The project will provide the Kyrgyz Republic with the tools to achieve effective compliance with respect to its obligations to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and the objective of substantively minimizing the environmental and health risks, both local and global.

Reconstruction and Upgrade of Road in Surkhandarya Region (M39) Project

The project aims to reconstruct and modernize 100 kilometers of the M39 Almaty–Bishkek–Tashkent–Termez highway going through Baisun, Sherabad, Mirzaabad, Angora, and Termez districts of Surkhandarya region.

Second Customs Reform and Trade Facilitation Project

The project will help facilitate trade and regional cooperation by easing the movement of goods and services to and from Afghanistan.

Third Highway Project

The project will contribute to a more efficient and safer Baku–Shamakhi road and higher quality road services as part of the upgrading to motorway standards, and to improve the management of the nascent motorway network.

North–South Railway Project

The proposed north-south railway line will improve Turkmenistan's accessibility to Kazakhstan, the Persian Gulf countries, the Russian Federation, and South Asia; and increase regional trade.

Energy Emergency Recovery Assistance Project, Additional Financing

The objective of the Additional Financing for the Energy Emergency Recovery Assistance Project for Tajikistan is to urgently increase the volume and reliability of the national energy supply, especially in the winter season, by supporting the implementation of the Energy Emergency Management Action Plan.

CAREC Corridor 2 Road Investment Program, Tranche 1

The project will rehabilitate about 50 kilometers of the A380 highway, and provide training support for improved planning, project management, road asset management, and community facilities.

Talimarjan Power Project (formerly CASAREM–Talimarjan Energy Development Project)

Located 440 kilometers southwest of Tashkent, the new facility will increase energy efficiency and save energy through clean power generation. The project will also help increase regional connectivity, and improve power sector management and customer service.

Support to Sustainable Transport Management in Dushanbe

The project aims to reduce local and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and to improve access to and the quality of public transport services for all Dushanbe residents.

Regional Road Development Project, Supplementary

The supplementary loan and grant for the project covers financing cost overruns related to the construction of the remaining 62 kilometers (km) of the two-lane road section of about 430 km from Choyr to the border near Zamyn–Uud.

Support to Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion in Uzbekistan, Phase 2

The project focuses on the regional and industry diversification of exports and foreign investments in Uzbekistan.

Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management Multicountry Capacity Building Project (Turkmenistan)

The Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management (CACILM) is a partnership between Central Asian countries and the international donor community, focused on combating land degradation and improving living standards in the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Climate Risk Management

The project is undertaking risk assessments in 17 countries to better understand both near-term climate variability and long-term climate change. These assessments will help define how changing climate patterns are likely to impact on development and other key socio-economic sectors, such as agriculture and healthcare.

Strengthening Coordination of Project Formulation and Mobilization of Resources for Sustainable Radioactive Waste Management in Central Asia

The project will contribute to transform scientific knowledge and political will into development and implementation of prioritized interventions that include strengthening of regulatory, legislative framework and capacity for sustainable management of radioactive wastes.

The technical assistance final report will prepare a project loan for the second phase of the Western Regional Road Project, including the specific components to be financed by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Mongolia.

The project will expand transmission coverage from Chimtala to South-West Kabul, develop the Kabul Distribution Network in Darchi-e-Bashi, and improve system planning and project management at Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS).
