Second Road Network Development Program

The small-scale technical assistance is in preparation to the multitranche financing facility investment program, Second Road Network Development Program.

Transport Network Development Investment Program, Tranche 2

The technical assistance (TA) will contribute to preparation of the feasibility studies for the subprojects proposed for inclusion in Tranche 2 through preparing the required social safeguards due diligence documentation.

CAREC Corridor 3 (Shymkent–Tashkent) Rehabilitation Project

The project is in preparation for the CAREC Corridor 3 (Tashkent-Shymkent Road) Rehabilitation Project.

Integrating Climate Change Risks into Water and Flood Management by Vulnerable Mountainous Communities in the Greater Caucasus Region

This project aims to reduce vulnerability of the mountain communities of the Greater Caucasus region of Azerbaijan to climate change-induced water stress and flood hazards by improving water and flood management.

Roads Improvement Project

The proposed project will contribute to reducing the country's transport costs by rehabilitating and reconstructing the Zarafshan Valley's road outlet, and improving traffic safety and technical standards for the Sayron-Karamik section of the CAREC Corridor 3.

Addressing Trade Logistics Bottlenecks and Facilitating International Trade and Transportation in Central Asia

The project is funded by the Trade Facilitation Facility, a$40 million multi-donor trust fund launched in April 2009 to help developing countries improve their competitiveness through concrete improvements in their trade facilitation systems and by reducing trade costs, with initial emphasis on Africa and low-income countries.

Afghanistan Diagnostic Trade Integration Study

A diagnostic trade integration study (DTIS) evaluates internal and external constraints on a country’s integration into the world economy, and recommends areas where technical assistance and policy actions can help the country overcome these barriers.

Effective Disaster Risk Management for Sustainable Human Development and Security

The project puts stronger emphasis on (i) integrating Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) into sustainable development programming, (ii) strengthening of national disaster risk assessment and monitoring capacity, (iii) building local level DRR capacity, (iv) strengthening regional cooperation, (v) making DRR gender and age sensitive.

Promotion of Energy Efficient Lighting in Kazakhstan

The project reflects national priorities in the field of energy conservation through transition to energy efficient lighting equipment which facilitates the country’s progress to sustainability.

Energy Sector Development Investment Program, Tranche 3

The project will increase generation capacity in Gereshk, an economic center in Helmand province, by upgrading a hydropower plant. It will replace 10 kilometers of 3.3 kilovolt (kV) distribution lines with 20 kV lines, and install new end-user meters. The project will also enhance operations of the power utility, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat.

Western Regional Road Corridor Development Program, Tranche I

The program will construct over 290 kilometers of roads and improve connecting local roads in Mongolia’s remote western region, build and equip road maintenance units, and provide training and capacity development.

Road Network Development Program, Tranche 3

Under the third tranche of the multitranche financing facility, the project will build two sections of the four-lane expressway between Masalli and Astara on the southern corridor. It will also rehabilitate access roads.

CAREC Corridor I (Taraz Bypass) Project

The project is a vital part of a broader government investment program to improve over 2,700 kilometers of roads along the CAREC Corridor 1, which passes through Kazakhstan from the People's Republic of China, all the way to the Russian Federation's western border.

Road Reconstruction and Upgrading Project

The project was originally approved in 2011 and provided a loan to the Republic of Azerbaijan for upgrading of sections of roads by the Azeri Roads Service (now renamed Azeravtoyol). Disbursement of the funds is allocated in tranches, which nvolved resurfacing and upgrading of existing two lane corridors in largely rural areas. The total length of these roads is around 130 kilometers and the project involves upgrading an existing two lane single carriageway road to a dual two-lane carriageway standard.

Sustainable Transport of Almaty City

The objective of the project is to reduce the growth of the transport-related greenhouse gas emissions in the City of Almaty, while simultaneously improving urban environmental conditions.

Transport Network Development Investment Program, Tranche 1

The first tranche of the program will improve 145 kilometers (km) of roads, and support the operation and maintenance of a new 75-km railway line and additional facilities between Hairatan and Mazar-e-Sharif. It will improve management of the transport sector and deliver a revised national road and rail transport plan.

CAREC Corridor 6 (Marakand–Karshi) Railway Electrification Project

The project will increase regional trade opportunities and accelerate the economic growth of Uzbekistan through improved railway operations between Marakand and Karshi.

Regional Power Interconnection Project

The Regional Power Interconnection Project will address electric supply needs in Afghanistan and electric infrastructure development and export plans in Turkmenistan. The technical assistance will prepare the project for consideration by Asian Development Bank and other financiers.

Second CAREC Corridor 2 Road Investment Program 2, Tranche 1

The first tranche of the program will rehabilitate a 74-kilometer section of a highway running through the Fergana Valley, where a third of all Uzbeks live and a large proportion of the country's agricultural goods are produced. It will also improve road safety and asset management.
