Women water professionals from Uzbekistan explore climate-resilient water management in PRC

In August, 14 women – water sector professionals from Uzbekistan took part in a study visit to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. The visit was facilitated by the Asian Development Bank’s Resident Mission in Uzbekistan, together with the Private Sector and Markets Group, Sector Development Division 3, with support from the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
The program brought together water sector professionals to exchange practical experience on climate-resilient water management, modern irrigation systems, digital water monitoring, and water-saving technologies. The participants also had an opportunity to learn from local practices and discuss approaches that could be relevant to Uzbekistan’s water sector.
The visit contributed to building technical knowledge, leadership skills, and professional connections among women working in the water sector, while providing a platform for continued exchange on efficient water use, climate adaptation, and gender-responsive water governance.
