CAREC Advances Energy Cooperation
On 9–10 April 2026, ADB’s Energy Sector Office led the CAREC Energy Transmission and Interconnectivity workshop in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The event brought together government officials, regulators, and system operators from CAREC countries.
In particular, discussions focused on advancing initiatives related to a regional electricity balancing market, regulatory cooperation, and digitalization to support regional interconnections, renewable energy integration, and system flexibility.
The workshop concluded with site visits to ADB-supported facilities, including the Central Asia Power System Coordination Dispatch Center, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Center, and the Joint Stock Company Regional Electric Power Network Smart Meters Data Center, showcasing the practical applications of regional digital infrastructure.
