CAREC advances digital trade with pilot initiative on electronic certificate exchange

On 21 April 2026, ADB, together with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and Korea Trade Network (KTNET), organized an introductory session for the CAREC Pilot Project on Electronic Exchange and Mutual Recognition of Conformity Certificates.

This project will develop a prototype for the electronic exchange of conformity certificates to reduce processing time in selected products traded among CAREC countries. It is also a priority initiative under the CAREC Partnership for Trade, Climate and Innovation, signed at the 24th CAREC Ministerial Conference in 2025.

KTNET presented the approach, operational plan, and a survey to measure business processes and institutional preparedness.

Representatives from customs, standards and conformity agencies from Azerbaijan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are participating in the pilot project.
