ADB reaffirms support for Mongolia’s transport sector in meeting with ministry

On 12 May, the ADB Mongolia Resident Mission Officer-in-Charge, Chandra M. Arora met with Acting State Secretary of the Ministry of Roads and Transport Bayarmagnai Myagmarsuren. Both sides discussed the cooperation in the transport sector and priorities under the 2025–2028 Country Partnership Strategy.
Chandra M. Arora highlighted ADB’s long-standing support to Mongolia’s transport sector since 1992, spanning roads, civil aviation, railways, and logistics, and emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen connectivity. Also, he outlined upcoming CAREC transport-related events leading up to the 2026 CAREC Ministerial Conference in Mongolia
The State Secretary Bayarmagnai listed the Government’s priorities, including expanding international and state road networks and upgrading selected road sections through alternative financing modalities. He also requested ADB’s continued support for priority road investments and for strengthening the transport sector’s legal and policy framework, including developing a unified transport law and advancing civil aviation policy following the recent International Civil Aviation Organization audit.
Both sides also underlined the urgency for the implementation of the Regional Road Development and Maintenance Project and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation.
