ADB helps advance green skills agenda in the Kyrgyz Republic

In Bishkek, on 18 June 2026, the Asian Development Bank and the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic convened a technical workshop for the Inter-Agency Working Group on Skills, bringing together government, education, and private sector stakeholders. They discussed the integration of green skills and just transition principles into technical and vocational education and training and higher education systems in the Kyrgyz Republic. The workshop was held under the CAREC Program’s technical assistance project “Strengthening Green Skills Development” with support from the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific. Participants strengthened their understanding of climate-responsive skills development and identified priority areas for aligning education strategies with climate commitments and labor market needs in the country which marks an important step toward equipping the workforce for inclusive, low-carbon growth.
