3rd CAREC Water Pillar Working Group meeting highlights transboundary water investments, cooperation
CAREC member countries identified potential regional and subregional water investments and agreed next steps to strengthen transboundary water cooperation at the 3rd CAREC Water Pillar Working Group Meeting held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 15-16 July. The meeting convened 66 representatives from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, regional organizations, and development partners. In their opening remarks, ADB Kazakhstan Country Director Utsav Kumar and Kazakhstan Vice-Minister Zhandos Salimov emphasized the need for stronger regional cooperation, climate-resilient solutions, and sustained investments in water security. In closing, SD2-AFNR Director (Central and West Asia) Jiangfeng Zhang underscored the importance of closer coordination among governments, development partners, and ADB to mobilize financing and advance climate-resilient water management.
