11th CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting
Transport sector representatives from 10 CAREC countries attended the meeting to review (i) the implementation of the CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy and Action Plan, (ii) the refined list of medium-term priority transport projects, and (iii) concept paper for the proposed midterm review of the CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy and Action Plan.
Delegates were also updated on the Trade Facilitation Program, CAREC cross-border transport facilitation, proposed training and knowledge-sharing activities in the transport sector for 2012, and Transport Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting work plan for 2012 – 2014.
Presentations were made on CAREC: Time for Action in Road Safety; World Bank support to transport sector in Central Asia, South Asia, and South Caucasus; and CAREC Institute strategy and work program (2013-2017).
Deputy Director General Zan Yang of Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China and the Asian Development Bank co-chaired the meeting. Other delegates who participated in the meeting were from Islamic Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the World Bank.
