16th CAREC Trade Policy Coordinating Committee Meeting

Participants from nine CAREC countries and multilateral institution partners—Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank—discussed the following topics:

• recent research in the area of trade and trade policies, including on lessons learned from the recent global crisis;
• the impact of the Customs Union on trade of its member countries;
• trade policy reform in Afghanistan;
• progress in the accession of Kazakhstan to the World Trade Organization (WTO);
• experiences and learning from the first two seminars under the “WTO Accession Knowledge Sharing Program”; and
• progress in the implementation of the Trade Policy Strategic Action Plan and goals for 2013-2014.

Ana Lucia Coronel and Dmitriy Rozhkov, both from the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the International Monetary Fund, co-chaired the meeting.
