Consultation Meeting with the CAREC National Focal Points (2016)
CAREC national focal points discussed preparations for the 15th Ministerial Conference on CAREC, including a proposed ministerial retreat in October in Islamabad, Pakistan and its expected deliverables.
The CAREC Secretariat also presented updates on the following deliverables: (i) CAREC Railway Strategy 2017–20130, (ii) CAREC Road Safety Strategy, (iii) Memorandum of Understanding on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Transmission Line, (iv) Almaty-Bishkek Corridor Initiative Investment Framework, and (v) Midterm Review of the CAREC 2020.
Participants were also briefed on the CAREC Energy Investment Forum, which will be held on 24 October in Islamabad, and discussed the draft intergovernmental agreement establishing the CAREC Institute.
Asian Development Bank (ADB) East Asia Department Director General Ayumi Konishi, ADB Central and West Asia Department Deputy Director General Hong Wei, and CAREC national focal point for Pakistan Anjum Assad Amin co-chaired the meeting.
Representatives from the United Nations Development Programme and CAREC Institute also attended the meeting.
