CAREC Senior Officials' Meeting (October 2013)

Senior CAREC officials met to review progress made in priority areas and discuss strategies to guide the program in promoting “integrated transport and trade,” the theme of this year’s Ministerial Conference.

The meeting discussed

  • the comprehensive stock-take report of the CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy (TTFS) and Implementation Action Plan (2008-2017), and the refined CAREC TTFS 2020;
  • updates from the Energy Sector Coordinating Committee, including sector progress reports; and
  • the Trade Policy Strategic Action Plan 2013-2017 and the steps needed to initiate implementation.

An Asian Development Bank representative presented a methodology review of the CAREC Development Effectiveness Review (DEfR).

The meeting also discussed related initiatives in institutional support and management, including a review of CAREC’s results-monitoring methodology and the physical establishment of the CAREC Institute.
