CAREC Senior Officials' Meeting 2026

Ministers and senior officials from CAREC member countries and development partners convened in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on 11–12 June 2026 for the CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM), chaired by the Government of Mongolia.

Vice Minister Davaasuren Sodnomdarjaa of Mongolia’s Ministry of Economy and Development, CWRD Director General Leah Gutierrez, and EARD Director General Ehsan Khan underscored the importance of translating strategies into action, through concrete investment projects and accelerated implementation of priority initiatives.

The SOM—as the key preparatory platform for the 25th CAREC Ministerial Conference (MC)— discussed the 2026 deliverables, including the operationalization of memoranda of understanding signed at the 24th MC in Bishkek in November 2025. Discussions centered on advancing regional investment pipeline, mobilizing financing, and strengthening cooperation across transport and digital connectivity, trade and tourism, energy security, and innovative financing from capital market development and disaster risk financing to catalyzing venture capital. The meeting highlighted close collaboration among development partners and enhanced role of CAREC national focal points in regional projects towards achieving CAREC 2030 and beyond.
