CAREC National Focal Points’ Consultation Meeting 2026

The CAREC Program kicked off its 2026 planning with a virtual consultation of its National Focal Points on 17 March, translating MOUs signed at the 24th Ministerial Conference into a concrete roadmap for the year ahead. Chaired by Ms. Erdenetuya Darinchuluun, Director General at the Ministry of Economy and Development and National Focal Point for Mongolia, the meeting served as a platform for aligning priorities and building momentum toward CAREC’s landmark 25th Ministerial Conference.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Leah Gutierrez, Director General of ADB’s Central and West Asia Department, reaffirmed ADB’s commitment to turning high-level commitments into tangible, country-owned results. Ms. Lyaziza Sabyrova, Regional Head, CWRC outlined the progress on key ministerial initiatives, including the operationalization of the Bishkek Declaration on the CAREC Trade and Investment Facilitation (CARTIF) Partnership. The proposed action plans generated a productive discussion, signaling strong ownership and a clear path for implementation. CAREC National Focal Points shared their national perspectives and priority deliverables.
The dialogue underscored a powerful consensus: despite a complex global landscape, the need for—and commitment to—regional cooperation has never been stronger. The meeting concluded with a vision for a results-oriented 2026, setting the stage for an impactful 25th Ministerial Conference that will celebrate a quarter-century of connecting people, policies, and projects for shared prosperity.
