CAREC 2020 National Workshop: Mongolia
All CAREC sector focal points in Mongolia, officials of government agencies, and representatives of multilateral and bilateral institutions attended the National Workshop on CAREC 2020. Participants were
- given an overview of CAREC 2020, the Program’s guiding strategic framework over the next 10 years;
- updated on progress in the four priority sectors; and
- informed about the medium-term priority projects lists.
Development partners, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the German International Cooperation Association (GIZ), expressed interest in future financing possibilities of CAREC projects.
Since 2003, Mongolia has been implementing CAREC-related projects in the transport and trade facilitation sectors amounting to $247 million. CAREC has also conducted various capacity-building activities in Mongolia.
The Ministry of Finance and ADB’s Mongolia Resident Mission co-organized the workshop, and their representatives — Mr. Khurenbaatar Baavgai, Director General of the Ministry of Finance’s Development Financing and Cooperation Department and CAREC National Focal Point for Mongolia, and Mr. Robert Schoellhammer, Country Director of Mongolia Resident Mission — workshop co-chaired the workshop.
