CAREC 2020 Midterm Review: Country Consultation Meetings

The CAREC 2020 Mid-Term Review (MTR) team, led by CWRC Director Vicky Tan, Principal Regional Coordination Specialist Pradeep Srivastava, and Lead Consultant Robert Wihtol, conducted focus group discussions with government officials, private sector representatives, think tanks, and donor agencies in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Astana (Kazakhstan), and Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic) from 4-7 April 2016.

Discussions focused on how the current strategy can be made more effective in light of the recent global and regional developments and how these are impacting on the individual CAREC countries.

Recommendations will be incorporated into a modified CAREC 2020 Strategy and will inform the next CAREC Long-Term Strategy-CAREC 2030.

The MTR of CAREC 2020 was endorsed by CAREC senior officials in the lead up to the 14th CAREC Ministerial Conference held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The MTR will be based on comprehensive consultations with member countries at both the national level and the sector level (at working group meetings).
