6th CAREC Energy Investment Forum

The 2023 CAREC Energy Investment Forum, held in Tbilisi, Georgia on November 28-29, successfully gathered over 170 participants from both the private and public sector in the region and beyond. Focused on regional energy integration and sustainable energy solutions, the event facilitated vibrant discussions and presentations, including a well-attended “matchmaking event” on day 2. Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Priyantha Wijayatunga, Senior Director of ADB’s Energy Sector Group, followed by Mr. Vakhtang Tsintsadze, the Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. The event featured a total of 27 sessions, including the keynote presentation given by Mr. Martin Sommerseth Jaer, Energy Specialist at ADB, and CAREC Energy Lead.

The forum served as a platform for exchanging information and fostering networking within the energy sector community. It functioned as a catalyst, advancing several initiatives and concrete projects. The discussions and presentations at the forum also helped gain traction for ADBs Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) in the region. Overall, the forum marked a goodt step forward in promoting sustainable and integrated energy solutions across the CAREC region.
