Support to National Disaster Risk Response

Summary

The overall objective is strengthened national disaster response system in Tajikistan. The purpose of the project is an increased capacity of the disaster management with regard to disaster response preparedness of the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of Tajikistan.

• Institutional arrangements and legislation for disaster response strengthened
• Disaster response system improved

• Project stakeholders make an endeavor for achievement of project goals and objectives
• Administrative and institutional framework enhanced for national disaster response mechanisms
• Appropriate legislation developed and adopted for requesting, accepting, accommodating and using international assistance
• Collective disaster preparedness and response by various entities working together (national and international) is prompter and more effective
• Links with the international disaster response community in place
• Awareness raised concerning the international standard procedures of necessary national commitment after major disasters
• SAR training programs enhanced
• Improved disaster response capacity by upgrading of facilities and provision of equipment
• Emergency stocks available for response operations
