Power Transmission Enhancement Project
Summary
The project will build a double-circuit 220-kilovolt transmission line and associated substation facilities, replacing two existing lines that have been in use for about 60 years by state-owned power firm, Azerenergy. It will improve power supply, especially in the key Azeri industrial hub, near the capital city of Baku.
Expected Outcome
The project will improve the power transmission system to provide reliable and adequate electricity for sustained economic growth in Azerbaijan.
Expected Outputs
- New 220 kV double-circuit transmission line from Mingechevir hydropower plant to Absheron substation constructed.
- New 220/110 kV substation at Agdash constructed and two units of transformers installed.
- Absheron substation (500/330/220 kV) expanded.
- Azerenergy assisted on project management.
- Institutional capacity strengthened.
