Facilitating Cross-Border Transport in the CAREC Region (Phase 1)
Summary
In line with CAREC 2020, the project would help maximize the benefits of improved regional transport infrastructure being developed along the CAREC corridors.
Expected Outcome
The project will help address nonphysical barriers to the efficient cross-border movement of goods and people in the CAREC region that adversely affect the efficiency, speed, and cost of cross-border transport operations.
Expected Outputs
In the Kyrgyz Republic, at the Karamyk BCP, located along CAREC corridors 3b and 5,
- the inspection facilities, including customs, sanitary and quarantine, and veterinary checkpoints, will be improved to handle traffic growth and improve the inspection process; and
- power, water supply and sewerage facilities, communication facilities, and office and inspection equipment will be provided.
