Summary
The project preparatory technical assistance (PPTA) will conduct due diligence for an ensuing ADB project aimed to increase electricity supply and access to electricity and increase gas supply for electricity production and industrial uses.
Expected Outcome
In the Afghanistan power subsector, generation (conventional and renewable), transmission (domestic and regional), and distribution (on- and off-grid) projects are proposed for ADB financing. In addition, wells rehabilitation is likewise considered in the gas subsector.
Expected Outputs
The outputs will be (i) a 500 kilovolt (kV) line from Sheberghan to Pul-e-Khumri, (ii) an HVDC B-B convertor station at Pul-e-Khumri, and (iii) a 220-kV overhead libe from Sheberghan to Andkhoy.
