Preparing the Central Asia–South Asia Regional Electricity Market Project
Summary
The project preparatory technical assistance will assess the economic and technical feasibility of electricity trade between Central Asia and South Asian countries through an initial project to export 100MW from Tajikistan/Kyrgyz Republic to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Expected Outcome
A project design and feasibility study agreed on by the Governments of Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Tajikistan, and ADB.
Expected Outputs
Expected outputs were split over two phases with Phase 1 being a preliminary feasibility report confirming economic and technical viability and of Phase 2 a full feasibility report to include technical design, confirmation of cost estimates, and social and environmental safeguard assessments.
