First Seminar on World Trade Organization Accession: Recent Developments in the Multilateral Trading System in the Agriculture Sector

The first seminar under the CAREC World Trade Organization (WTO) Accession Knowledge Sharing Program aimed to build capacity to facilitate WTO accession in relevant CAREC countries on agriculture-related issues, and to improve the general institutional environment for trade.

CAREC Federation of Carrier and Forwarder Associations Logistics Training (November 2011)

The 3-day training aimed to raise the level of professionalism, efficiency, and management skills of carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics companies in the region.

CAREC Development Partners’ Forum

The CAREC Development Partners' Forum brought together ministers and senior representatives of development agencies, including CAREC's multilateral institution (MI) partners, to discuss the goals and aspirations of the CAREC Program over the coming decade, as CAREC 2020 is implemented.

10th CAREC Ministerial Conference

Participants endorsed CAREC's new strategic framework, CAREC 2020, that will guide the program over the next 10 years toward expanded trade and increased competitiveness of all CAREC countries.

CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (November 2011)

Senior government officials of the 10 CAREC countries, together with multilateral institution partners, discussed items for the consideration of the 10th Ministerial Conference, including the final draft of the CAREC 2020 Strategic Framework.

15th CAREC Trade Policy Coordinating Committee Meeting

The meeting presented the trade and trade policy of the new CAREC members—Pakistan and Turkmenistan—and the impact of the Customs Union on the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.

10th CAREC Customs Cooperation Committee Meeting

The CAREC Customs Cooperation Committee (CCC) held its 10th Annual Meeting to update senior customs officials in the 10 participating countries on progress in the priority areas for customs cooperation and facilitate sharing of lessons learned in implementing projects.

Consultation Meeting with the CAREC National Focal Points (2011)

CAREC national focal points from all 10 countries met and discussed the 10th Ministerial Conference on CAREC preparations, the CAREC Institute work plan, and cross-border transport facilitation initiatives.

CAREC Training Workshop on Modernization of Customs Management

The training combined classroom lectures, case studies, and on-site learning. It also provided opportunities for cross-country experience sharing on these subjects.

CAREC Federation of Carrier and Forwarder Associations Meeting (August 2011)

About 50 participants, representing more than 20 trade logistics associations from all 10 CAREC member countries, attended the 2-day meeting.
