In-Country Workshop on Xinjiang Trade Logistics Development The workshop aimed to present the key findings and recommendations of the Study on Xinjiang Trade Logistics Development jointly sponsored by Asian Development Bank and the Department of Regional Economy of the National Development and Reform Commission.
Fifth CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting The meeting discussed the potential for harmonization of regional transport regulations and cross-border agreements for roads and the railways, the potential for liberalization of the civil aviation subsector, maintenance and funding of the regional road network, and proposed infrastructure investments and technical assistance in CAREC countries.
Fourth CAREC Ministerial Conference In a joint statement, ministers called for the acceleration of economic integration and deepening of the CAREC agenda.
CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (October 2005) Participants (i) reviewed the progress in the areas of transport, energy, trade policy, and trade facilitation; (ii) discussed updates in regional business roundtable and preparation of a Comprehensive Action Plan; (iii) briefed on UNDP Central Asia Human Development Report; (iv) endorsed key messages for Ministers; and (v) reviewed arrangements for the Fourth Ministerial Conference in CAREC.
Fourth CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting The meeting discussed studies on the harmonization and simplification of cross-border agreements, documentation, and transport regulations in CAREC participating countries, and the potential for liberalization of the aviation sector in Central Asia.
Seminar on Private Sector Participation in Infrastructure in Central Asia: National and Regional Solutions The seminar was conducted in cooperation with the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK).
