Seventh CAREC Ministerial Conference

The 7th CAREC Ministerial Conference marked a turning point in the CAREC Program. With the endorsement of key strategic documents, the Program is now entering the implementation phase.

CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (September 2008)

The meeting reviewed and discussed drafts of key documents for consideration by the 7th Ministerial Conference on CAREC in November 2008: the Implementation Action Plan for the CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy, the CAREC Trade Policy Strategic Action Plan, and the Strategy for Regional Cooperation in the Energy Sector of the CAREC Countries.

CAREC Electricity Regulators Forum’s Fourth Annual Meeting

The meeting consisted of a 2-day annual plenary session and a 3-day training workshop on public-private partnerships and regulators response to renewable energy and energy efficiency programs, and tariff-setting principles and practices.

CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (April 2008)

The meeting focused on developments in the transport and trade facilitation sectors and preparation of an Implementation Action Plan for the Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy.

CAREC Energy Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting (April 2008)

Delegates from all eight CAREC countries and representatives from the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the World Bank met to discuss matters related to their revised CAREC Energy Sector Strategy.

Sixth CAREC Ministerial Conference

Ministers from the eight countries participating in the CAREC Program adopted a Joint Ministerial Statement that highlights accomplishments of the CAREC Program in recent years and outlines a vision for the program to 2018.

Participants discussed the "CAREC Strategy for Regional Cooperation in Energy".

CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (September 2007)

The Senior Officials' Meeting was characterized by open and detailed discussion focused on (i) draft sector strategies for transport and trade facilitation, (ii) sector updates for energy and trade policy, (iii) a draft prospectus for the CAREC Institute, and (iv) preparations for the Sixth Ministerial Conference on CAREC planned for November 2007 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (March 2007)

The meeting reviewed sector updates and strategies, proposals to establish a CAREC Institute, 'second tier' activities, capacity building initiatives, possible new participants, and the way forward.

Fifth CAREC Ministerial Conference

Ministers from the eight countries participating in the CAREC Program adopted the Urumqi Declaration and endorsed the CAREC Comprehensive Action Plan.
