ADB Signs MOU with AIIB, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan to Support Feasibility Study for Caspian Green Energy Corridor

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN (5 April 2025) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and the energy ministries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support the Feasibility Study for the Caspian Green Energy Corridor Project. The initiative is part of ADB’s regional technical assistance for the project.

EBRD finances the largest battery energy storage system in Central Asia

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is contributing to Uzbekistan’s objective of developing up to 25 GW of solar and wind capacity by 2030, by organising a facility of up to US$ 229.4 million for the development, design, construction and operation of a 500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) and a 200 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in the country’s Tashkent region.
