East–West Roads Project (Almaty–Korgos Section): Western Europe–Western China International Transit Corridor (CAREC 1b)

The project will increase transport efficiency along the Western Europe–Western China Road Corridor within Almaty Oblast and will modernize highway management on sections of the Western Europe–Western China Road Corridor.

CAREC Corridor 3 (Shymkent–Tashkent) Rehabilitation Project

The project is in preparation for the CAREC Corridor 3 (Tashkent-Shymkent Road) Rehabilitation Project.

Promotion of Energy Efficient Lighting in Kazakhstan

The project reflects national priorities in the field of energy conservation through transition to energy efficient lighting equipment which facilitates the country’s progress to sustainability.

CAREC Corridor I (Taraz Bypass) Project

The project is a vital part of a broader government investment program to improve over 2,700 kilometers of roads along the CAREC Corridor 1, which passes through Kazakhstan from the People's Republic of China, all the way to the Russian Federation's western border.

Sustainable Transport of Almaty City

The objective of the project is to reduce the growth of the transport-related greenhouse gas emissions in the City of Almaty, while simultaneously improving urban environmental conditions.

KEGOC Osakarovka Restructuring Loan

The loan will help in the rehabilitation of the Ossakarovka electricity transmission line to contribute to the overall system reliability and support development of the Akmola region, enabling electricity supply from Central Kazakhstan to Astana city and Akmola oblast (region).

CAREC Transport Corridor 1 (Zhambyl Oblast Section) Investment Program, Tranche 4

The fourth project will upgrade a 49-kilometer section of the highway in Zhambyl Oblast. This will be part of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation Transport Corridor 1, running from Khorgos city through Almaty and Shymkent to the Russian Federation's western border.

Alma Electricity Transmission Project

The project will improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers in the Almaty region in an environmentally responsible and financially sustainable manner. This will be achieved by expanding the capacity of Almaty's transmission network to provide additional capacity and redundancy in the system for uninterrupted supply of electricity.

CAREC Corridor 1 (Zhambyl Oblast Section), Tranche 3

The third project will improve 118 kilometers of the highway in Zhambyl Oblast. This will be part of the CAREC Transport Corridor 1, running from Khorgos city through Almaty and Shymkent to the Russian Federation's western border.

CAREC Corridor 2 (Mangystau Oblast Sections) Investment Program, Tranche 1

The first project of the investment program will reconstruct around 200 kilometers of the road linking Manasha to Beki, and improve bridges, culverts and other infrastructure in Mangystau Oblast (province). It will also strengthen capacity for project and road asset management.

Aktau–Beineu Road Project

The technical assistance will provide the agreed design and feasibility study that will make the project suitable for ADB financing and Kazakhstan national standards and regulations.

CAREC Transport Corridor I (Zhambyl Oblast Section) Investment Program, Tranche 2

The second project will reconstruct 79 kilometers of the highway in Zhambyl Oblast. This will be part of the CAREC Transport Corridor 1, running from Khorgos city through Almaty and Shymkent to the Russian Federation's western border.

Kazakhstan Moinak Electricity Transmission Project

The project will increase and improve the electricity supply to business enterprises and households in southern Kazakhstan in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner.

South–West Roads: Western Europe–Western China International Transit Corridor (CAREC 1b and 6b)

The objective of the South West Roads Project for Western Europe–Western China International Transit Corridor (CAREC-1B and 6B) is to improve transport efficiency along road sections in Kyzylorda, South Kazakhstan and Almaty Oblasts, improve road management, and increase traffic safety in Kazakhstan.

Energy-Efficient Design and Construction of Residential Buildings

The goal of this project is to decrease greenhouse gas emissions from new residential buildings by transforming practices and markets in the building sector of Kazakhstan towards more energy-efficient design and construction.

Growing Inclusive Markets in Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States

The project will foster partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders to facilitate development of inclusive markets – markets that involve poor as producers, suppliers and wage employees (on supply side) and as customers and users of affordable goods and services (on demand side).

Reconstruction of South Kazakhstan Region Border to Taraz City: Western Europe–Western China Road Corridor

The project involves reconstruction of 58 kilometers (km) of road stretching from South Kazakhstan Region border to Taraz City.

CAREC Transport Corridor I (Zhambyl Oblast Section) Investment Program, Project 1

The first project will reconstruct 125 kilometers of the highway between Taraz and Korday in Zhambyl Oblast. This will be part of the CAREC Transport Corridor I, running from Khorgos city through Almaty and Shymkent to the Russian Federation's western border.

South–West Corridor Road Project

The project will help facilitate the transit of goods and passengers between Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, and Europe, and also promote regional integration.

Strategic Planning for Small and Medium-Sized Hydropower Development

The technical assistance aims to develop a strategy for the small to medium sized hydropower sector, assist in setting up a conducive tariff policy and regulatory framework, review and advise on financing options as well as to conduct feasibility studies for four small to medium sized hydropower projects in the country.
