Development of Road Safety Policy and Action Plan for Mongolia

The main objective of the technical assistance (TA) is to improve road safety management and operations to enhance quality of life and to support sustainable socioeconomic development in Mongolia. The TA is included in the Mongolia Country Operation Business Plan 2015.

Regional Improvement of Border Services

The proposed project will tackle the core problem of inefficient trade processes by rehabilitating facilities and providing modern equipment to three major border-crossing points, upgrading the Customs Automated Information System, and conducting preparatory work for the establishment of a single-window system for trade-related regulatory requirements.

Regional Upgrades of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures for Trade Project

The project supports the improvement of Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures (SPS) in Mongolia in compliance with the World Trade Organization Agreement on the Application of SPS measures. The improvement in the SPS system is an essential prerequisite for Mongolia to increase agriculture and food trade and diversify its economy.

Western Regional Road Corridor Development Program, Tranche 2

The program supports the development of a transport corridor that links Mongolia to the Russian Federation in the north and People's Republic of China in the south. Tranche 2 of the program includes 103.9 kilometers of paved road between Khovd and Khashaatin Davaa pass, two bridges and urban roads in Khovd, a road maintenance center, and capacity development.

Western Regional Road Corridor Development Program, Tranche I

The program will construct over 290 kilometers of roads and improve connecting local roads in Mongolia’s remote western region, build and equip road maintenance units, and provide training and capacity development.

Regional Logistics Development Project

The project will establish a multimodal transport system and equip the new terminal with modern customs and quarantine facilities. The management of the logistics facility will be contracted out to a private operator.
