Preparing the Herat–Andkhoy Road Project

Summary

The technical assistance prepares a project preparatory study of the rehabilitation and improvement of the road connecting Herat to Andkhoy in Afghanistan.

Expected Outcome

This 550-kilometer stretch is the least developed section of the ring road and the condition of the existing road has been reported to be poor for the most of its length.  Improvement of this stretch to a "motorable" road will greatly enhance the connectivity of the area along the road to the rest of the country, facilitate integration and improve trade links.
