CAREC countries discuss regional priorities for the CAREC Climate Change Action Plan

Government officials from CAREC Countries and Development Partners met on 8 July to discuss priority areas on climate adaptation and mitigation in preparation of the CAREC Climate Change Action Plan. Member countries identified and presented joint regional climate project proposals, including a regional early warning platform, regional impact assessment on glacier melting and water availability, and climate risk assessments of regional infrastructure. The final Action Plan will be presented at the CAREC Ministerial Conference in November 2024, in Astana. CWRC Regional Head Lyaziza Sabyrova opened the meeting and underscored the importance of participants’ contributions in shaping up the main directions of the Action Plan. SG-AFNR Director Yasmin Siddiqi shared the highlights of the recent meeting of the CAREC working group on water.
