Mongolia Launches Road Safety Awareness Campaign
The Government of Mongolia, as the chair of the CAREC Program for 2015, launched a one-year road safety campaign during the 14th CAREC Ministerial Conference held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The campaign is expected to reach an initial 1 million people using broadcast, radio, and social media by 2016.
This road safety awareness initiative is motivated by the urgent need to tackle road safety in Mongolia, which, based on statistics from the International Road Federation, ranked 16th place on deaths on road per 100,000 population.
The campaign also aims to serve as a demonstration for other CAREC countries to take further initiatives on road safety. The campaign includes stakeholder consultations with government offices (including traffic police), media companies, schools, vehicle manufacturers, and non-government organizations.
Outputs from the campaign will be shared widely with all CAREC countries.
