Second CAREC Customs Cooperation Committee Meeting
The meeting reviewed progress of the committee’s common action plan and identified and recommended future action for customs cooperation in the region.
It was attended by CAREC participating countries Azerbaijan, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. ADB staff and experts facilitated the proceedings.
Background and Objectives
The Customs Cooperation Committee (CCC) of East and Central Asia, during its first meeting in August 2002 in Urumqi, People’s Republic of China (PRC), endorsed a 7-point Common Action Plan (CAP) and instituted Working Groups for its implementation.
On 9-10 October 2003, the CCC held its Second Meeting in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, which reviewed the progress of the CAP’s implementation based on the work program agreed by the CCC Working Groups during their Joint Meeting last April 2003. The 2nd CCC Meeting identified and recommended the future direction of customs cooperation in the region.
