Consultation Session on Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation

(Held during the 37th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors)

A consultation session on Central Asia economic cooperation was held to review progress in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program and discuss its future activities.

Participants included Annual Meeting delegates from CAREC countries, neighboring member countries, and representatives from multilateral institutions.

ADB’s Annual Meeting offered a good opportunity for joint consultation with high-level government officials on economic cooperation in Central Asia. This was the third time a consultation session was held during ADB’s Annual Meeting.

Apart from providing a forum for deliberating specific issues, this consultation contributed to enhancing mutual trust and understanding, which are the foundations for regional economic cooperation.
