16th CAREC Trade Policy Coordinating Committee Meeting

Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China: 5 June 2012

Participants from nine CAREC countries and multilateral institution partners—Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank, discussed the following topics:

  • recent research in the area of trade and trade policies, including on lessons learned from the recent global crisis;
  • the impact of the Customs Union on trade of its member countries;
  • trade policy reform in Afghanistan;
  • progress in the accession of Kazakhstan to the World Trade Organization (WTO);
  • experiences and learning from the first two seminars under the “WTO Accession Knowledge Sharing Program”; and
  • progress in the implementation of the Trade Policy Strategic Action Plan and goals for 2013–2014.

Ms. Ana Lucia Coronel and Mr. Dmitriy Rozhkov, both from the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the International Monetary Fund, co-chaired the meeting.
