From 2001 to December 2025, CAREC investments reached $57.9 billion, covering 300 regional projects. Of the total, about $19.7 billion was financed by ADB, $26.5 billion by other development partners, and $11.7 billion by CAREC governments. The top three sources of financing are ADB (33.9%), the World Bank (21.9%) and counterpart financing from CAREC governments (20.3%). (Figure A.1 and A.2) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of these investments, the traditional sectors of transport and energy; followed by the trade, tourism and economic corridors cluster have the biggest share, with about 68.1% ($35.9 billion), 24.3% ($12.4 billion) and 4% ($2.3 billion) respectively (Figure B).\u00a0 Investments in new clusters such as agriculture and water, and human development, are slowly increasing, reflecting evolving priorities of member countries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uzbekistan has contributed the largest share in CAREC-related projects, with one-fourth (25%) of the total cumulative investments availed by the country since its inception. This is followed by Kazakhstan (21.7%) and Azerbaijan (12.1%).\u00a0 (Figure C)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For ADB-financed CAREC-related projects, transport has the biggest share, with about 73.5% or $14.4 billion; energy comes in second with 17.4% or about $3.4 billion, with the trade, tourism and economic corridors cluster coming in third with 7.3% or about $1.4 billion.
