Key power sector issues identified in the report (2016)
- The power demand continues to outstrip power generation by a huge margin. As of 2014-15, the electricity generation was 15,500 MW against the demand of 21,000 MW
- The estimated losses of power transmission and distribution system is 23-25%. The National power policy envisages reduction in transmission and distribution losses from ~23-25% to ~16% by 2017
