Workshop for Trade and Development: Asian Perspective
Background and Objectives
On 16 April 2009, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) organized the Workshop for Trade and Development: Asian Perspective at Westminster International University in Tashkent. The workshop was ADB’s response to the Government of Uzbekistan’s request to provide assistance in conducting analysis on trade and development experiences of selected Asian countries and their potential implications on Uzbekistan’s development. The analysis was supported by a technical assistance project Policy and Institutional Reform Support.
The workshop provided a forum to exchange views on current trade and development issues in Uzbekistan and selected Asian countries. It helped the participants to
- better understand trade and development issues in the context of Uzbekistan and selected Asian countries development,
- identify the issues to be examined by the analytical report and policy options, and
- prepare an action plan for conducting the analysis.
