Workshop on Promoting Cooperation in Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures for CAREC

Technical experts from agencies on sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures and CAREC consultants attended the workshop.
The workshop presented findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the ADB technical assistance on promoting SPS for CAREC.
Participants also discussed proposed next steps for ensuring food, animal, and plant safety while facilitating trade expansion among CAREC countries.
Samat Kulmambetov, CAREC trade policy focal point for the Kyrgyz Republic, and Rie Hiraoka, country director, ADB Kyrgyz Republic Resident Mission, delivered the opening remarks.
CAREC aims to establish regional SPS programs in at least five countries by 2020 under the revised CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy.
