Inaugural Meeting for the Negotiations of the CAREC Trade and Investment Facilitation Partnership Agreement
The virtual Inaugural Meeting on the Negotiations for the CAREC Trade and Investment Facilitation Partnership (CARTIF) Agreement was held on 11 March 2026. ADB reaffirmed its full commitment and readiness to continue supporting the CARTIF negotiation process, including the establishment and operation of the working groups.The meeting highlighted the vital role of CARTIF in lowering barriers to trade, boosting investment, and fostering collaboration in areas such as digital commerce and sustainable economic growth. It also focused on detailed discussions of the CARTIF implementation plan, the operations of the working groups, and the next steps in the negotiation process. CARTIF Chief Negotiators and country delegations expressed strong support for the initiative and emphasized their readiness to begin the CARTIF Zero-Round negotiations at the earliest opportunity.
