CAREC Water Pillar Consultation Held in the Kyrgyz Republic

On 4 April, KYRM CD Kanokpan Lao-Araya and CWER Senior Water Resources Specialist Kazuhiro Yoshida opened the national consultation meeting in Bishkek and discussed a framework for regional cooperation on water management, transboundary water infrastructure, climate resilient irrigation, urban and rural water supply and sanitation services, and water-energy planning models. The national consultation aimed to (i) present the framework for the Water Pillar, (ii) obtain inputs from relevant national agencies, research institutes and development partners on potential areas of cooperation, and (iii) discuss the process for identifying a longlist of potential CAREC Water Pillar activities. Over 30 participants from water related agencies, intergovernmental organizations, development partners, regional and research institutes and the technical assistance consultants attended the meeting in Bishkek.
