Almaty–Bishkek Agro-food Value Chains Cluster and e-Agriculture Developments in Almaty–Bishkek Economic Corridor Initiative Meeting (Kazakhstan)
Officials of Almaty City Government, national ministries, development partners, and the private sector met to discuss approaches to the development of agriculture value chains, prioritize related investments, and identify necessary policy reforms.
Almaty City Administration Agriculture Division Deputy Head Maxat Rakhmetov opened the Almaty-Bishkek Economic Corridor Initiative (ABCI) Forum.
The forum explored the potential of integrating the fruit-vegetable and the dairy-meat-livestock value chains in Almaty and Bishkek as well as surrounding regions.
The ABCI was launched with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the city administrations of Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic) at the 13th CAREC Ministerial Conference.
Under the initiative, Almaty and Bishkek will develop the first CAREC economic corridor at the city level.
