Subregional Workshop on Coordinated Border Management

Asian Development Bank, in cooperation with the World Customs Organization and CAREC Institute, conducted a workshop for border and trade officials (customs, sanitary and phytosanitary inspection, transport, and border security) of the People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Tajikistan.

The workshop introduced international agreements and guidelines related to coordinated border management (CBM), and shared implementation experiences through case studies of the United States, Singapore, and Germany.

The workshop provided an opportunity for representatives from the different border agencies to sit together and discuss their respective clearance procedures, existing border cooperation initiatives, and steps to take to promote CBM.

Participants from the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan shared progress in the development of national single windows in their countries under the Regional Improvement of Border Services project.
