Economic Outlook

Highlights from the Asian Development Outlook 2017:
External factors held growth at 2.7% in 2016, but higher capital spending and corporate tax reform should permit growth to reach 3.8% in 2017 and 4.5% in 2018. Inflation, low in 2016, will likely rise to 4.2% in 2017 under currency depreciation and an excise tax increase. Skills mismatch in the labor market is an important constraint on long-term growth.
