Senior Officials' Meeting on Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation

Manila, Philippines: 8–10 August 2001

At the invitation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), delegations from Azerbaijan, the People's Republic of China (PRC), Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan met for 2 days in Manila, Philippines to discuss ADB's program of support for Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation.

More specifically, the participants discussed and confirmed

  • the priority areas ADB should concentrate on in facilitating regional cooperation,
  • the institutional framework that would best serve implementation of the ADB program, and
  • preparations for a Ministerial Conference scheduled 5–9 November 2001 in Urumqi, PRC.
