Regional Customs Modernization and Infrastructure Development Project

Summary:The project, implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan, involves the development of a unified automated information system and border-post infrastructure.

In addition to the project loan for Tajikistan, the Government of the United States has provided a grant specifically for the country's border-post infrastructure which covers
  • construction of administration and working area facilities for border guards and customs staff, checkpoint posts, staff living quarters, and vehicle and pedestrian lanes; and
  • provision of basic furniture and equipment for the posts.
Expected Outcome:The project will improve efficiency and transparency of customs services and reinforce the ongoing customs legal reforms and simplification of customs procedures.
Expected Outputs:
  • New facilities, checkpoint posts, living quarters, and lanes constructed; and
  • furniture and equipment for the posts provided.
